Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could crash the device,
execute arbitrary code, and allow access to sensitive information.

Moxa reports the vulnerabilities affect the following Ethernet switches:
* EDS-G516E Series firmware, Version 5.2 or lower
* EDS-510E Series firmware, Version 5.2 or lower

Ilya Karpov and Evgeniy Druzhinin from Rostelecom-Solar and Georgy Zaytsev of
Positive Technologies reported these vulnerabilities to Moxa.
## 4\. MITIGATIONS
Moxa has developed the following solutions to address the vulnerabilities:
* EDS-G516E Series: Download the [new firmware](https://www.moxa.com/support/product-support/software-and-documentation/search?psid=49216).
* EDS-510E Series: please contact [Moxa Technical Support](https://www.moxa.com/support/support/technical-support) for assistance.
* Enable password on configuration file from "Configuration File Encryption" setting to eliminate the potential risk.
* Enable HTTPS from the "Management Interface" setting.
* Enable "Account Login Failure Lockout" functions to eliminate the potential risk.

CISA recommends users take defensive measures to minimize the risk of
exploitation of this vulnerability. Specifically, users should:
* Minimize network exposure for all control system devices and/or systems, and ensure that they are [not accessible from the Internet](https://www.us-cert.gov/ics/alerts/ICS-ALERT-10-301-01).
* Locate control system networks and remote devices behind firewalls, and isolate them from the business network.
* When remote access is required, use secure methods, such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), recognizing that VPNs may have vulnerabilities and should be updated to the most current version available. Also recognize that VPN is only as secure as the connected devices.
